L'Ardoise et le Chancelier - Hospices de Beaune Tradition 17/11/2007 to 31/07/2009 - 21200 BEAUNE Phone: 03 80 24 44 02 - Fax: 03 80 24 45 70 contacts@ot-beaune.fr The Hôtel-Dieu takes a look into its glorious past on the occasion of the redoing of its 2300 m2 slate roof. With a large exhibition the former hospital offers a view into its history – from when the great Chancellor of Burgundy Nicolas Rolin signed the foundation charter until 1971 when the Hôtel-Dieu was replaced by a modern hospital. During these 550 years the Hôtel-Dieu, symbol of Beaune and Burgundy, has undergone different changes, especially with the restoration undertaken by Maurice Ouradou in the 19th century. The exhibition shows this magnificent Burgundian-Flemish monument in a new light. It displays medieval tools, techniques and trades, demonstrating what a building site looked like in the Middle-Ages. Ancient plans and sketches show how the restoration was undertaken by Ouradou, the son-in-law of Viollet Le Duc, and visitors can discover the techniques, tasks and building materials relating to the current 25-month-long restoration. Du 17/11/2007 au 31/07/2009 tous les jours aux horaires d'ouverture du musée de l'Hôtel-Dieu |
